If a horseman is truly committed to doing what is best for both themselves and their horse, they must focus on mindset FIRST, which then dictates how they apply the technique. Mindset and technique are not mutually exclusive. Instead, think of mindset as the engine and technique as the steering wheel. A steering wheel is useless if the engine won’t start, but an engine with no steering wheel will just crash. To achieve the highest level of training, you use your mindset to govern your technique.
